The American Family Insurance Championship announced a one-of-a-kind foursome for the June 24-26 event at University Ridge in Madison.

Green Bay Packers and soon-to-be NFL Hall of Fame quarterback Brett Favre, will join former Packers teammate and Badgers offensive lineman Mark Tauscher, two-time U.S. Open Champion Andy North, and event host and 12-time PGA Tour winner Steve Stricker for a 9-hole scramble.

The foursome will tee off on Hole #10 following the final group of the PGA Tour Champions field (approximately 2:00 p.m.), and play the final nine holes on Saturday, June 25.

The opportunity to caddie for Favre and Stricker is up for auction at www.charitybuzz.com (search “American Family Insurance Championship”), while the caddies for Tauscher and North were bid on at the Andy North & Friends charity golf outing earlier this week.

Fans can purchase tickets for the American Family Insurance Championship at the tournament website at www.amfamchampionship.com.

Meanwhile, Stricker was among several golfers with Wisconsin ties attempting to qualify for this month’s U.S. Open at Oakmont through sectional qualifiers Monday.

Stricker carded a five-under par 137 after two rounds in Memphis, Tennessee, but fell one stroke shy of being in a playoff for the final two spots from that sectional.

Osceola native Charlie Danielson, who plays collegiately at Illinois, did qualify for the 116th U.S. Open. Danielson beat Tony Finau on the first playoff hole to earn the last spot out of the Springfield, Ohio, sectional. The 22-year-old will be making his U.S. Open debut.

Others who attempted to qualify, but fell short included Menominee Falls native Mark Wilson, Mequon native Jordan Niebrugge, Fox Point native Skip Kendall, Brookfield native and current Badger Eddie Wajda III, former Marquette star and Milwaukee native Mike Van Sickle, Hartland native Charlie Delsman, Summit’s Mick Smith, and Green Bay’s Richard Hearden.

The U.S. Open runs June 13-19 in Oakmont, Pennsylvania.
