A central Wisconsin power plant is temporarily out of service because of a lightning strike last weekend.

The Weston 3 power plant in Rothschild will be out of service until November because of a lightning strike early Saturday. Wisconsin Public Service spokeswoman Kelly Zagrzebski describes the damage as "extensive."
Zagrzebski says crews are looking into how much repairs will cost.

Until it can be brought back online, Zagrzebski says the utility will buy electricity from another source. She says utility customers could pick up the cost of buying the extra energy, if state regulators go along with the utility's request.
