A logging accident has left a man hospitalized.

The victim was 68-year-old Henry Van Zile. He was cutting down a tree when the tree fell in an unplanned direction, kicked back, and landed on top of him.

A companion had to cut part of the tree trunk to rescue Van Zile. He was able to get back to his home with help from the man that rescued him, but rescue crews transported him to the hospital.

Van Zile was then airlifted to a Wausau hospital. The accident happened Wednesday.

Van Zile’s condition has not been released.
