The Packers celebrated their Super Bowl win with their fans Tuesday at Lambeau Field at the Return to Titletown rally. Players and fans alike reveled in bringing the Lombardi Trophy back to Green Bay, “We brought that title back home baby, we love you,” said Quarterback Aaron Rodgers.
That enthusiasm was echoed by Donald Driver, who spent all 12 of his years in the league with the Pack, “It started here and look where we at now. We’re Superbowl champs baby.”
Fans braved below-zero wind chills but all said it was worth it, “I got to touch the trophy so I’ll remember it forever definitely,” said one of the 56,000 thousand who attended.
Some fans said it was a “once in a lifetime experience” but they added that hopefully it will happen more often than that. Coach Mike McCarthy is also looking for a repeat performance. “We’re going to do it again next year,” he said.
Green Bay Mayor Jim Schmitt announced that the city will rename a street in honor of McCarthy and call it “McCarthy’s Way.”
Tickets for the celebration went on sale for five dollars each, on Monday morning, and they were sold out by the end of the day.
