Already looking for answers after setting an all-time franchise low with a 2-10 start, the Milwaukee Brewers fell even deeper into their tailspin with a sixth straight loss to begin a homestand at Miller Park.
First, the game. Righthander Wily Peralta (0-2) served up a three-run homer to Zach Cosart and a two-run blast to Joey Votto in consecutive innings, helping the Reds separate from a scoreless game entering the sixth inning for a 6-1 win.
Second, the injuries. Prior to the game, the Brewers announced second baseman Scooter Gennett was out with a cut on his hand suffered while in the shower. Then in the seventh, all-star catcher Jonathan Lucroy broke his toe on a foul tip. He’s been placed on the disabled list.
The news came five days after Milwaukee placed centerfielder Carlos Gomez on the 15-day DL with a hamstring injury.

The offense wasn’t much better Monday, registering just three hits against Anthony DeSclafani (2-0) and the Cincinnati bullpen. The highlight was a ninth inning solo homer by Ryan Braun, his first of the season.

The Brewers are currently last in the National League in runs scored (31), hits (89), home runs (4), and average (.208). The pitching ranks 14th in ERA at 4.86.
Milwaukee (2-11) and Cincinnati (6-7) play the second game of a four-game series Tuesday night at Miller Park. Jason Marquis (0-1) throws opposite Mike Fiers (0-2). First pitch at 7:10pm.
