One year has passed since six young people were shot dead in Crandon , by an off duty police officer who later took his own life. Local pastor, Bill Farr, says a prayer vigil and ceremony is planned. "Most of the family members wanted something simple, meaningful," says Farr. "They didn't expect or want a large gathering, because they thought this was something a little more solemn, a little more personal."

Farr says the families of victims are trying to put their lives together, yet not forget. "It was such a painful memory, and yet now, at the one year anniversary . . . they don't want to go through another funeral service, in a sense." Tonight's ceremony will be held at the site where the tragedy occurred, although the home where the shootings happened was leveled in June. Farr says the families have a vision of the type of memorial they would like to see there, but nothing has been finalized yet.
