Twenty people have been arrested in western Wisconsin for distribution of methamphetamine. According to Eau Claire Deputy Police Chief Matt Rokus, the West Central Drug Task Force carried out a year-long investigation that resulted in the arrests of people in Eau Claire, Chippewa, Dunn, St. Croix, and Polk Counties.
“This investigation will have a major impact on the availability and distribution of methamphetamine in our region,” said Rokus, who added that the investigation in Eau Claire expanded throughout the region. “We were involved into an investigation into some low-level methamphetamine dealing, and through that it became clear to our investigators that there was a larger scale conspiracy.”
Three of those arrested face federal charges, including Pa Xiong, whom Rokus called the primary dealer in the meth ring. Rokus said the drug trade contributes to a host of other crimes, from theft and burglary to battery, and holding the drug dealers accountable will make the region a safer place. The drug task force is made up of 17 area law-enforcement agencies across west-central Wisconsin.
