Legislation banning cell phones in locker rooms gets a hearing at the Capitol. Many places around the state already ban cell phones in locker rooms. Tom Dawson got them banned from Madison's West Side YMCA. "You don't know whether they're taking photos or not," Dawson told members of a Senate committee, adding that photos and video taken by cell phones can, and had, ended up on the Internet.
Rep. Marlin Schneider (D-Wisconsin Rapids), the bill's author, said even professional athletes should have an expectation of privacy in the locker room. Schneider's bill would establish a uniform statewide policy, banning cell phones from lockers rooms without exception. The bill got a public hearing at the Capitol on Tuesday.
