Recent high profile drunk driving cases spur a call for legislative action, by mandating ignition interlocks for most drunk drivers in Wisconsin. Kerri Kinnard with MADD Wisconsin points out that forty two percent of traffic fatalities in Wisconsin are alcohol related, the worst such ranking in the nation. "If everyone is okay with this embarrassing distinction . . . then we don't need to change a thing," said Kinnard.

Of course Kinnard's group argues that a number of changes are needed to combat the drunk driving epidemic With fifty to seventy five percent of convicted drunk drivers continuing to drive, Kinnard maintains it's time Wisconsin mandated ignition interlock devices. " The case for interlocks is clear," she said.
