Martin Maldonado delivered a Mothers Day moment at Miller Park on Sunday.

Not only did Maldonado club a home run in the 7th inning, but he singled over the Cubs’ drawn-in outfield with one out in the 11th inning to give the Brewers a 3-2 win and a second straight victory over the Cubs.

With the bases loaded, Maldonado knew he needed to get the ball in the air.  The Cubs had already brought their left fielder, Chris Coghlan into the infield.  Maldonado drove a fastball from Cubs reliever Jason Motte to right and over the head of Jorge Soler for what went in the books as an RBI single.

After a 5-17 month of April, the Brewers have gone 6-3 over their last nine games.  They’re 4-3 with Craig Counsell as their manager.

The Brewers also took 2 of 3 from the Cubs and are 2-0-1 in their last three series after dropping their first seven.

On Mothers Day, the Brewers are 30-19 all-time (.612).  Their winning percentage is the best in Major League Baseball.

The Brewers continue their home stand tonight when they face the Chicago White Sox in the first of three.  Wily Peralta (1-4, 3.92) pitches for the Brewers.  Jeff Samardzija (2-2, 4.38) goes for the White Sox.
