A Chippewa County man has been charged with stealing from the estate of a dead man, and his girlfriend alleges that he’s been involved in similar crimes in at least two other counties..
The Chippewa Herald reports that 32 year-old Seth Furgason of Junction City is charged with stealing from the estate of a Town of Howard man who died from cancer in March. He faces charges of armed burglary, theft and possessing a firearm by a felon.
According to the criminal complaint, items taken from the dead man’s home included a semi-automatic handgun, boxes of baseball cards, a copy of the debut issue of Sports Illustrated, and two chain saws. Furgason’s girlfriend told investigators he was involved in similar burglaries in two other counties, and that she drove Furgason to the crime scenes.
Furgason’s attorney said he just received the complaint and had no comment.
