Nearly 200 of the 800 member employees of the Manitowoc Company are on strike.

Senior Vice President of Human Resources Tom Musial says that members of Local Lodge #516 of the International Association of Machinists and Aerospace Workers walked off the job about three Monday afternoon, with some picketing outside the facility.

Those workers rejected a new contract Sunday, after working under an old deal which expired October 31st. Musial says that discussion broke off Monday and a federal mediator has been called in to help resolve the dispute.

Neither side is commenting on what their differences are.

Musial adds that “no further discussions are scheduled and the Manitowoc Company will to continue day-to-day operations as usual.”
