After taking the last two weeks off with shoulder tightness, Milwaukee Brewers right-hander Shaun Marcum returned to the mound and tossed 4-innings in the Brewers 5-4 exhibition win over the San Diego Padres.

Marcum allowed  four hits and three runs, including a pair of home runs, but declaired his right shoulder ready to go afterwards.

Marcum, who hadn’t pitched since March 17, was on a 75 pitch limit.  He threw 68 pitches and was removed.  He said his original diagnosis was blown out of proportion.  Marcum said Zach Greinke’s rib injury caused the panic level to go up.

Marcum is scheduled to make his first regular season start as a member of the Brewers on Saturday at Cincinnati.  The weather isn’t expected to be good in Cincinnati, but Marcum said he’s ready to get out of Arizona and starting playing games for real. 

The Brewers got a pair of home runs from Ryan Braun and one from Rickie Weeks in the win.  —  The Brewers lost their split squad game with the Kansas City Royals 10-0.  They’ll face the Padres in the final exhibition in Peoria, Arizona today, then head for Cincinnati to open the regular season on Thursday.
