Another poor shooting night for Jerel McNeal and Wes Matthews (6 of 26 FG), but Lazar Hayward poured in 26 points, including a free throw in the final seconds, to lead the Marquette Golden Eagles to a 58-57 win over the Aggies of Utah State.

Marquette was in control in the first half, but the Aggies rallied in the second half and took a 49-46 lead with 4:41 to play.  But Marquette chipped away and picked up their 25th win (25-9) of the season.

McNeal had 14 points and Matthews 11 for Marquette.  The Golden Eagles helped themselves at the free throw line, hitting 19 of 23, including 11 of 14 in the final 3+ minutes of the game. 

Marquette advances to round two action on Sunday against Missouri.
