After leading by one-point at halftime, the Marquette Golden Eagles shot just 26% from the field in the second half and dropped their Big East Conference opener 83-63 at the BMO Harris Bradley Center on Wednesday night.
The Golden Eagles hit just one of eleven from three-point range and hit just eight of 31 from the field in the second half.
Freshman forward Henry Ellenson, who entered the game averaging 16.8 points and 9.8 rebounds, was held to 13 points, although he pulled down 14 rebounds. Six of his 14 points came in the final minutes when the game had already been decided.
All five of Seton Hall’s starters scored in double figures, led by Desi Rodriguez’s 19 points. The Pirates also won the rebound battle 49-33. They had 16 offensive rebounds.
Marquette plays at Georgetown on Saturday.
