Marquette moved to 10th in the A.P. Top 25 basketball poll and then went out and lost to LSU 67-59. It’s the first loss of the season (10-1) for Marquette.
The Golden Eagles jumped out early, scoring the games first 13 points. But then they went cold, going scoreless for an 8-minute stretch late in the first half and finished the half down by 3 (26-23). Marquette wound up shooting 28.6% in the first half.
LSU also got hot down the stretch, scoring 10-straight to take a 63-54 lead with 42 seconds left in the game.
Marquette’s shooting didn’t improve much for the game. They finished at 36% from the field, while LSU shot 53.5%.
Jae Crowder had 22 points and 9 rebounds to lead the Golden Eagles.
Marquette returns home to host UW-Milwaukee on Thursday.
