Despite a career high 30 points from senior guard Wesley Matthews, the Marquette Golden Eagles (8-2) fell to 16th ranked Tennessee 80-68 in the Big East/SEC Challenge game in Nashville.
Wayne Chism scored 21 of his 26 points in the second half to lead the Volunteers. Tennessee wore down the Golden Eagles, who had only 8 players due to injury.
Lazar Hayward added 14 points for Marquette and Jerel McNeal had 10.
