Marquette ended up forcing the Pirates into a season high 23 turnovers and held them without a basket for a stretch that extended beyond 9 minutes in the second half.
Wes Matthews had 24 points as Marquette won its 17th consecutive home game. Marquette finished with 16 steals, which is their season high. Matthews hit 9 of 12 free throws to become Marquette's all-time leader in made free throws.
Dominic James 13 points pushed him past Butch lee and into third place on Marquette's all-time scoring list with 1,740.
Marquette has five regular season games left and the schedule is challenging. They start at Georgetown on Saturday and also play road games at Louisville and at Pittsburgh. The Golden Eagles get Connecticutt and Syracuse at home.
