Marquette head coach Buzz Williams is now 0-3 on Senior Night at Marquette. The Golden Eagles got a career high 30 points from Jimmy Butler, but lost to Cincinnati 67-60 at the Bradley Center.
Butler hit 7 of 15 shots and 15 of 17 free throws. Darius Johnson-Odom added 15 points, but no other Marquette player had more than 4-points as the Golden Eagles 3-game win streak came to an end.
Marquette closes the regular season Saturday at Seton Hall. The Golden Eagles are looking for their 10th Big East win, which is the unofficial number of conference wins that gets you into the NCAA Tournament. If the Golden Eagles can secure a 10th Big East win, they would join Pittsburgh as the only teams to win at least 10-games in six straight seasons.
Cincinnati likely cemented a spot in the NCAA field. They improved to 23-7 overall, 10-7 in the Big East Conference.
