The Republican challenger in Wisconsin's second Congressional District says he wants to bring reform to Washington.

Mathematician and computer programmer Peter Theron says a desire to fight government corruption is what drew him into the race. He says the appropriations bill passed by Congress last year is a prime example. It attracted criticism for excessive and questionable spending.

Theron is running in his first campaign, and faces incumbent Democrat Tammy Baldwin (D-WI). Theron says he's not a career politician, but just felt he needed to run.

Theron disagrees with Baldwin's call for a public health care system, which she highlighted last week in a speech at the Democratic National Convention. Theron says private enterprise needs to be more involved with health care, rather than government.

Theron wants to stop energy policies enacted by Democrats, which he blames for rising gas prices.
