Green Bay Packers linebacker Clay Matthews collected 2 1/2 quarterback sacks in last Sunday’s 20-3 win over Tampa Bay. Matthews helped the Packers clinch their 6th straight playoff berth. For his effort, Matthews was named the NFC’s Defensive Player of the Week.
Matthews collected his 12th career game with at least two sacks. Matthews also has 10 sacks for the season, the fourth career 10+ sack season. He now has 60 sacks for his five-plus seasons in the NFL.
The former USC Trojan collected his fourth career Player of the Week Award and first since week 9 of the 2010 season. His four Defensive Player of the Week Awards are tied with Charles Woodson for the most in franchise history.
