Madison Memorial junior Jeronne Maymon verbally committed to play for Marquette University on Tuesday morning.  The 6'7, 238 pound forward averaged 21 points and 12 rebounds during his junior season at Memorial.  He became a househould name at this past March's WIAA State Basketball Tournament when he averaged 30 points and 15 rebounds as Memorial made it all the way to the state title game before falling to Wawautosa East in overtime.

Maymon reportedly had scholarship offers from Division One schools in all of the major conferences including NCAA champion Kansas.

Maymon will be the 3rd State Player of the Year in the last four years to play for Marquette.  Fellow Madison Memorial alum West Matthews will be senior for the Golden Eagles next season.  Matthews was the State Player of the Year in 2005.  Marquette guard Scott Christopherson schared the award with current  Wisconsin Badger Keaton Nankivil in 2007.  Nankivil is also a Madison Memorial alum.
