Sheboygan Mayor Bob Ryan has had a setback in his efforts to fight alcoholism. Ryan issued a statement during Monday night’s city council meeting, admitting that rumors swirling around the city about him are true. “I had a setback in my program. I was out in the city of Sheboygan, I was at drinking establishments and I was drinking. I know that the rumors are swirling that I was out and they are true, I admit it,” he said.
Ryan said it happened recently when his brother came to town and they went out. The Mayor said, “I am an alcoholic, lets face it. I know that and I have been working to correct that for many years.” Ryan said he is sober 99 percent of the time and his drinking does not impede his ability to do his job.
The Mayor first admitted to the alcohol problem last September after someone posted a video on YouTube showing him drunk in a local tavern.
