Racine Mayor John Dickert wanted President Barack Obama to see what Racine has done with a lot of the stimulus money during Wednesday’s visit. He told Obama, “We’re doing great things. We’re doing a lot of progressive things with the money they’ve given us.”

Aside from what’s already been done, Dickert indicated he and the President also talked about New Market Tax Credits, and a future meeting in Washington.

While noting the obvious inconvenience with traffic at times, Dickert hopes the financial “kick” to some of the businesses would help offset that negative part of the President’s visit. While acknowledging not everyone supports the President’s policies, the mayor feels his city did itself proud by with its citizens being friendly and respectful, “we put a great face on.”
