Green Bay Packers 2nd year head coach Mike McCarthy has agreed to a new five-year contract worth about $4-million per season.

According to a report in the Green Bay Press Gazette , the two sides have been working on the deal for several weeks.

McCarthy isn't expect to sign the new deal until after the NFC Championship to avoid the distraction. 

The Packers are reportedly tearing up McCarthy's original three-year contract that paid him $2 million per year and ran through the end of next season.

His new deal will run through the 2012 season and pays him about $2-million more a year than his original deal.
