Norther Ireland’s Graeme McDowell ended a 40 year European drought at the U.S. Open on Sunday with a one shot win at Pebble Beach.  McDowell survived a wild-day, which saw 3rd round leader Dustin Johnson explode with an 82 and big name players like Tiger Woods, Ernie Els, and Phil Mickleson all fail to close on the leaders.  France’s Gregory Havret finished 2nd in his first ever U.S. Open

Edgerton’s Steve Stricker finished tied for 58th at +15, while Madison’s Jerry Kelly finished tied for 63rd at +16 for the event.

Golf’s next major tournament is the British Open next month, and then Whistling Straits in Haven, Wisconsin will host the PGA Championship in August.
