The state's doctors are suing, over a raid on the Patients Compensation Fund. It's part of the budget deal to be voted on today: a $200 million transfer from the Patients Compensation Fund into the state's general fund. Mark Grapentine is with the Wisconsin Medical Society , which has announced its intent to move forward with the legal action: "as soon as the governor puts his signature on a budget bill that includes a raid on the Patients Compensation Fund, the Medical Society will be filing a lawsuit to defend the fund in court." Grapentine says the $200 million transfer amounts to a quarter of the fund total, and will dramatically upset the state's medical liability climate.
