The Sporting News is honoring Milwaukee Brewers general manager Doug
Melvin as its co-executive of the year. Melvin shares the honor with Detroit Tigers general manager Dave Dombrowski.
Melvin helped build a 96-win team that won its first NL Central crown, beat Arizona in the NLDS and took the Cardinals to 6-games in the NLCS.
Melvin’s two biggest moves came prior to last season with the acquisition of pitchers Zach Greinke and Shaun Marcum.
