The president makes an impression on some Madison voters.
It was President Barack Obama’s third campaign stop in Wisconsin in just the last five days. Brent saw Obama for the first time. The Madison man arrived to the event at 5:30 in the morning; by 6:30 he was allowed to settle-in — right in front of the stage — and then he and his friend Doug waited 4 1/2 hours to see the president of the United States on a chilly morning, but it was worth it, they say.
“He’s the Kennedy of our generation … just inspirational. He’s just a total inspiration to everybody in this country. He’s a great speaker, motivator, he really wants to do what’s right for us, make life better for us.”
An American flag draped the state Capitol building, providing a backdrop for the event. The two men were excited to shake the president’s hand, exchange a few words, and take some photos.
“Yes, lots of photos. It was an incredible day. I will never forget it, never.”
Nearly 20,000 Obama supporters enjoyed a few songs from Bruce Springsteen, who introduced the president. Wisconsin native and Republican Vice Presidential candidate Paul Ryan was in Milwaukee Monday evening, just minutes before Election Day.
