Fond du Lac Assistant Police Chief Steve Klein said a meth lab his department busted Wednesday was the result of luck and good police training. Police were serving an outstanding warrant on a 39-year-old man when they discovered he was ‘cooking up’ meth and they got a search warrant for the residence.
“You never know what you’re walking into,” Klein said. “Their training kicked in and they recognized this was a potentially dangerous situation. Meth labs are very volatile. They use a lot of different chemicals in tha making of meth, and there’s the potential for explosion, fires and chemical burns.”
The Fond du Lac Fire Department Hazmat team was called in to help, along with other local and state investigators. Investigators were on the scene until Thursday morning.
