A Wausau woman on probation in the April 2007 neglect death of her infant son was arrested for drunken driving this week. What started as a routine traffic stop for speeding turned into a drunken driving arrest for Jessica Kasten Wednesday night. Police found Kasten's two young children in the car, but they were not buckled in. Prosecutor LaMont Jacobson says this is Kasten's first OWI, but she's also charged with obstruction, for lying about whether she'd been drinking. "Right now, the decision's going to have to be made by Corrections," Jacobson says. "They're going to have to decide whether they're going to make an attempt to revoke the probation."
A judge just sentenced Kasten last month to 10 years probation for letting her infant son die while she slept off a methamphetamine high last spring. The state has until Tuesday to decide on the probation revocation. Kasten makes her initial appearance on the OWI charge in municipal court next month.
