The Packaging Corporation of America has paid more than $22,000 in fines for four serious violations, including poor ventilation for flammable gases and allowing welding in an explosive atmosphere.
OSHA cited the company last month following its investigation into the July blast that killed three workers and injured one as they were welding a flange fitting on top of an 80-foot tall storage tank.
Spokesman Scott Allen said P-C-A has also fully or nearly fixed all of the problems regulators found in their investigation. He says the case will be closed once all the repairs are done. A spokesman for PCA returned a call and declined comment for the story.
