A Madison area Democrat is the new co-chair of the legislature's budget committee. Russ Decker, now Majority Leader in the state Senate, steps aside and names Senator Mark Miller to lead Democrats on the Joint Finance Committee, on which Miller served during the lengthy budget process. Miller expects to preside over some clean up work on the state budget.
The Monona Democrat is joined by a couple of new members on JFC: Senator Julie Lassa and Senator Judy Robson, who lost her leadership position to Decker. Does he now owe something to Decker? Miller says no, he's interested only in what's best for the state.
