There’s some movement on mining, in the state legislature. Assembly leadership plan a press conference next week to make an announcement on the issue. State Senator Neal Kedzie, an Elkhorn Republican who chairs a Senate select committee on mining, said that chamber which will play a crucial role in any final product. “Obviously I’m anxious to see what it is that’s being proposed,” said Kedzie. “We were aware of a piece of legislation this summer that came out, (which) raised a lot of red flags because there wasn’t a whole lot of input or discussion had with it. In the end, it will wind up being the Senate that determines which piece of legislation goes forward, and which one doesn’t.”
