Some elementary schools in the Sauk County School District of Reedsburg will be closing following Tuesday’s vote. Voters overwhelmingly said no to increase the revenue cap by a million bucks in each of the next four years. The first school to close, Rock Springs, will be at the end of this year, followed by schools in Loganville and Lavalle.
Layoffs are now part of the plan in Brodhead in which five teachers will be affected. In Stoughton, voters said yes to both questions which include permission to exceed the revenue cap by $8.4 million.
The largest referendum in the state was given the green light in the Jefferson School district. The $35 million dollar project was approved after two rejections in 2008.
