A Wausau mother will stand trial for failing to protect her 9-year-old daughter from her live-in boyfriend who sexually assaulted her.  The 32-year-old woman is already charged with failure to protect a child but prosecutor Theresa Wetzsteon said the accused may face additional charges.

The woman’s live-in boyfriend is accused of sexually assaulting the girl at least three times.  A convicted sex offender who lived in the house is accused of possessing child porn.

Both appeared in court with the woman Wednesday but they did not have lawyers. They will likely have state appointed attorney.

Prosecutors say all three could face additional charges based on an ongoing police investigation.
