A Dane County mother is behind bars, after crashing her car. Krystal Harris of Sun Prairie is facing a wide range of charges. Police say she was drinking and two children, ages seven and three, in the car with her at the time of the crash.
Police say the accident that sparked the arrest of the 27-year-old mother occurred Saturday night on the west side of Madison. Harris drove the car in to a tree, causing major damage to the vehicle.
When authorities arrived on the scene Harris reportedly had slurred speech, but claimed she was fine and wanted to go home.
An open can of beer was also found in the damaged vehicle.
The two children, who escaped from a rear window, were kept safe by a witness to the crash. They are now with family.
