Wisconsin senior Demi Omole (pictured) has been named the Big Ten Conference track and field athlete of the year and UW's Ed Nuttycombe has been named the Big Ten coach of the year, giving the UW a sweep of the two awards for a fourth straight year.
Omole, from Whitefish Bay Dominican High School, was named the athlete of the championship after leading UW to its fourth consecutive conference outdoor title. He won his fourth consecutive Big Ten outdoor 100-meter title, won his first 200-meter title and ran the anchor leg on UW's 400 relay team, which won its fourth consecutive title.
No other Big Ten athlete has won four titles in the 100-meter or 100-yard dash and no conference school has ever won four consecutive titles in the 400-meter or 400-yard relay.
The Big Ten outdoor title was the 23rd for Nuttycombe, who is in his 24th year at Wisconsin.
