Nearly 30-percent of US households now use a wireless phone as their only house phone according to a new report from Citigroup Investment Research and Analysis. Thad Nation, Executive Director of Wired Wisconsin, says other data shows the numbers may be even higher in Wisconsin. He says consumers find benefits in the convenience of a mobile device and cost savings of having only one phone.

Concurrently he says some people are even stepping away from traditional cable TV subscriptions and turning to more entertainment options via the internet.

The report found use of only wireless phones in the home has been steadily gaining ground, with nearly 25-percent of households in 2009, up from about 15-percent in 2007. Nation says this reflects a larger trend of the past decade.
