Another push for an increase in Wisconsin's beer tax. An editorial from the Milwaukee Journal-Sentinel, the state's largest newspaper, says there's increased taxes on alcohol could be directed to the cost of alcohol abuse and treatments.

There's still opposition though. Wisconsin Restaurant Association President Ed Lump says many businesses are struggling to make sales already during a recession, and increasing the price of their product may only discourage customers. He says it's also harder for bars and restaurants to absorb the cost of a tax hike when business is down.

Wisconsin's beer tax is third lowest in the nation, after Wyoming and Missouri. The tax has not been raised in 40 years.
