A former Fed economist from Wisconsin sounds off on the subprime mortgage crisis. Dr. Anthony Pennington-Cross says your home could be worth less and you may pay more to borrow money because of the subprime mortgage crisis. Pennington-Cross, now at Marquette University, says a plan to freeze interest rates could prevent the crisis from taking a devastating toll on homeowners. The plan is in the works at the federal level and is being held up because of a debate about how long the rates would be frozen. A new report finds nearly one foreclosure per every one-thousand households in Wisconsin. The same report found more than 25-hundred foreclosures in Wisconsin in October, the last month for which figures were available.
