Charges are pending in what Janesville police are calling a homicide. A 53 year-old Janesville man is a suspect in the death of 40 year-old Joseph Hanson. Police took William Davis into custody early Wednesday morning after getting a call to check on his welfare. Davis was naked when officers arrived. “When they got to the apartment and knocked on the door, Mr. Davis opened the door and immediately launched an assault on the officers,” said Deputy Chief Dan Davis. “They tazed him to get him into custody.” Davis was taken to Mercy Hospital for an evaluation. Officers discovered the body of the victim after a second call for a welfare check, to a separate apartment at the same address. It appears Hanson sustained multiple stab wounds. Davis said more will be learned after an autopsy. A knife believed be the murder weapon was recovered at the scene.
