Washington’s Adam LaRoche clubbed a third inning 3-run homer off of Milwaukee starter Matt Garza, beating the Brewers 3-0 in the series opener at Miller Park on Monday night.

Nationals starter Gio Gonzalez combined with three relievers to blank the Brewers on three hits.  Center fielder Carlos Gomez went hitless
(0 for 4), seeing his 18-game hitting streak come to an end.  Gomez also had reached base safely in 35 straight games.  That streak ended as well.

The Brewers entered the game having won six of seven games against the Diamondbacks and Rockies.  But they’re success rate at Miller Park isn’t nearly what it has been on the road.  The Brewers fell to 20-16 at Miller Park with the loss, just four games over .500.  On the road, the Brewers are 27-15, 12-games over .500.

Matt Garza struck out seven in seven innings but fell to 4-5 with the loss.

Yovani Gallardo (5-4, 3.34) gets the start in game two for the Brewers tonight.  Wisconsin native Jordan Zimmerman (5-4, 2.95) goes for the Nationals.
