Marinette Marine could receive fewer orders from the Navy, after the Department of Defense drastically cut plans to add new warships. The Navy planned to get 52 new combat ships, but figure was reduced yesterday, to 32. Marinette Marine is already under contract to build 10 Littoral Combat Ships (LCS), and that order likely won’t be impacted.

Jacqueline Boudreau is the executive director of the Marinette Menominee Area Chamber of Commerce. She feels the company has a strong enough market presence to rebound from any loss of future orders. Marinette Marine completed the first of the 10 ships last month.
