Nazis were the smallest group on Madison's Capital Square Saturday.
Hundreds of counter protesters were on hand, along with some 300 law enforcement officers to keep the two groups separated. A light rain fell as the group of between 15 and 20 Nazis began their speeches, which centered largely around anti-immigrant and anti-Jewish themes. Speakers were also critical of the U.S. government and Bush administration policies in the Middle East.
The crowd on the square, which initially had heavily booed the speakers from the Twin Cities based National Socialist movement, dwindled somewhat during the two hours of Nazi speeches, while just blocks away the activities of a busy downtown Saturday in Madison continued.
