Bartenders in Neenah will have to stay sober while they are on the clock. After months of debate, the city council on Wednesday night set a blood alcohol limit of .08 for bartenders while they are working.

Alderman Shiloh Ramos says the threshold makes a lot of sense, considering the same standard is in place for drivers. He says those workers need to be able to identify customers who are too drunk to drive.

The city council started talking about the issue back in late February and originally planned to require absolute sobriety for bartenders. They scaled back the limit after several bar owners raised major concerns about the proposal.
