About 30 people in Fond du Lac spent their lunch hour Wednesday hearing a Republican gubernatorial candidate’s plan for turning around the state of Wisconsin. Mark Neumann told the gathering at the public library that he’s optimistic the state could see a financial turnaround under his leadership.
When asked which party he’d rather work with if he’s elected the former Congressman said he prefer working with people who come out of private industry versus career politicians like his opponents.
Neumann also defended his recently published 210-page book which primary opponent Milwaukee County Exec Scott Walker termed an “ego trip.” He said it’s a more detailed way residents can learn about his plans for restoring the state to prosperity.
Neumann said the country is a very different place then when he left Congress in 1998 after an unsuccessful bid to unseat Senator Russ Feingold.
Milwaukee Mayor Tom Barrett is the main Democratic gubernatorial candidate.
