A Republican candidate for governor says he thinks Wisconsin should allow concealed carry for handguns. Former Congressman Mark Neumann says Wisconsin citizens should have the right to carry firearms for self-defense. He’s pledging to sign legislation that would legalize concealed carry in the Badger State.

Neumann made stops across the state Thursday, where he also accused his primary opponent, Milwaukee County Executive Scott Walker, of reversing his position on the issue several times. He points to a concealed carry bill Walker sponsored in the Legislature, but voted against when it came to the floor for a vote.

Walker’s campaign says that no vote was due to the bill coming to the floor at four in the morning. Several of his former legislative colleagues spoke out in support of Walker, saying any claims that he’s opposed the rights of gun owners are “complete and utter lies.”
