Steven Avery’s new attorney says she’s not doing any interviews about the case. Kathleen Zellner says she’s focusing on all possible legal options for Avery. He was convicted in the 2005 murder of Teresa Halbach and is the subject of the Netflix phenomenon “Making a Murderer”.

In a statement Monday, Zellner said her Chicago-area law firm is confident Avery’s conviction will be overturned when new evidence and results of her firm’s work are presented to a court.

Tens of thousands of people petitioned the White House online, asking for a presidential pardon, but  because their convictions are for state crimes, neither Avery or his nephew Brendan Dassey are eligible for federal pardons. Wisconsin Governor Scott Walker has also said he would not pardon Avery.
