It’s been a busy start to the year for car showrooms in the state. Wisconsin Automobile and Truck Dealers Association President Bill Sepic says sales of new cars and trucks were up 9.3 percent statewide during the first six months of 2013, compared to the same period last year.
More than 110,000 new vehicles were sold during the first half of this year, with truck sales leading the way.
Sepic hopes it’s a trend that will continue through the rest of the year, as the industry continues to recover from the recession. He says a lot of consumers put off purchases or simply could not afford a new vehicle, and dealers are starting to see those buyers come back to the market.

Unless gas prices spike for a prolonged period of time or there’s some other crisis, Sepic says he anticipates the rest of year will “look pretty good” for car dealerships.
